Shop Manager

Dupre' Logistics is currently seeking a Shop Manager to support our Maintenance Group at our Houston, TX location.

The Shop Manager operates in a fast-paced environment that serves as the hub of activity in our business unit. This individual will manage and coordinate preventive maintenance and repair of tractor-trailer equipment across terminal operations. The role includes responsibility for budget adherence and shop payroll management.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision of mechanics for the purpose of meeting maintenance requirements.
  • Give on-going support to continuously improve total operations.
  • Provide safety management to mechanic personnel to include processes established with the company’s loss prevention system.
  • Communicate with Operations Managers and/or drivers to obtain descriptions of problems and to discuss work to be performed providing a timeline of completion.
  • Operate and examine tractor-trailer vehicles to determine extent of damage or malfunctions.
  • Follow checklist to ensure all parts are examined including: belts, hoses, steering systems, spark plugs, brake and fuel systems, wheel bearings, and other potentially troublesome areas.
  • Perform routine and scheduled maintenance service such as oil changes, lubrications, tune-ups, and repair/replace brakes.

Qualifications

  • Related experience of 2-5 years in fleet maintenance; tractor trailer repair experience in both van, tank and end dump trailers preferred.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Bilingual: Spanish and English is preferred.
  • A customer service, operations and/or industrial background is required.
  • Must have a high level of self motivation, competitive spirit, customer service skills, and availability for work anytime.
  • Must have a strong customer service orientation, a high level of organizational skills, attention to detail, excellent computer skills and an ability to multi-task at a very fast pace while thinking quickly and clearly.
  • Must have general knowledge of computers and working knowledge of Microsoft Office is preferred.
